In March 2004, I visited Mumbai (Bombay), Pune and Bangalore. This was my first trip to the magical land of India.
With over one billion people, India is the world's largest democracy. Its most famous citizen is Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), the influential peace leader who is probably one of the few most important people in the history of the world.
India has a fascinating history going back many thousands of years. I found the people very diverse in everything from appearance (skin colors of every shade from "black" to "white") to personality. Most educated Indians speak three languages-- Hindi, English and the native tongue of their state.
I was in heaven being able to eat spicy Indian food three times a day. And the Old Monk was pretty good too.
